Hi all, does anyone find they're having a problem with dirt in the bore from HMR ammo?? I know some lads here said theirs fire better out of a dirty barrel but after only 5 or 6 shots my barrel is MANKY:confused::mad:!! I'm cleaning it properly but after a few shots my accuracy is going all over the shop. This morning I used the boresnake every few shots but the barrel was getting so fouled up I found it difficult even to get the brass end of the snake thruogh:eek: Does anyone else find this happening to them?
    Thanks all
    LR

I'd give it the hell of a good clean. Copper solvent, bronze brushes and a decent abrasive to get out fouling.

What ammo are you using? Try different maybe.

I just went to the effort of opening to safe to have a look at mine :P and its fairly manky and its only had about 12 shots if even since it last got a bore snake. Dont notice any effect on accuracy though.

I also have troubles getting the bore snake brass rod down it.

I find Federal seems to be very dirty!! But not dirty enough to affect accuracy. Try giving the barrel a good clean. Use solvent and pass patches through it until they come out spotless. Also where are you storing your ammo? Sometimes if they are stored in a place that is too cool they dont burn completely and leave alot of crap in the barrel. I always keep a box Im using in the hot press (its just warmer than room temp so not dangerous) and they seem to burn alot cleaner. Worth a try ;)

I was shooting some targets today with mine at around 100 metres It was quite windy but it was shooting 1" groups no problem at all.
Went inside gave it a good clean and went back out and after a fouling round the groups were exactly the same size.
I just clean it every now and again more for peace of mind than anything else.

I found the federal stuff to be filthy as well. Hornady aren't quite so bad, but a mate of mine swears by cci,so I'm going to try it if I can find it. I put my ammo safe in the hotpress so it is nice and dry and not too cold(warmpress would be more like it actually) so when I come in from a wet day out with the shotgun any damp cartridges don't rust. I just find it odd that such a small round generates more ****e than my 6.5!!
