Child's Play Ireland

Hey guys, not entirely sure if this is the right place to be posting this but I can't find anywhere better right now so I figured I'd go to the gamers.

I'm currently director for a charity gaming convention to be held in November and as an avid donor to Child's Play (Well, as avid as a student living on beans and noodles can be), I've decided to take up Child's Play as this year's charity.

However, while reading up on all the terms and such required to link an event to the charity I discovered that there aren't any links to Irish hospitals through the charity. I know the charity is trying to spread its work as far as possible* and they do have links in the UK, so for them to stretch to us is hardly unimaginable.

So my question is this: Has anyone here on the forum tried to contact a local hospital about setting up a link with Child's Play?
If it hasn't been ventured yet I think it'd be something worth doing, I feel Child's Play is the best example of gamers giving back to the world and really shows how much joy the humble vidja game can bring people.
If someone has tried it I'd like to know what the response to your attempt was.

For those of you unfamiliar with Child's Play, it's a charity that aims to improve the lives of children (And adults, as I've read in their testimonials) in hospitals by making various games, toys, books, etc available to them through.

I think the http://www.santastrikeforce.com/ already has it covered here on boards. They guys do exactly the same thing - sending games and toys to hospitals - and it's been really successful.

    This afaik.

But if it's something you wanted to do yourself then I'm sure Temple Street would be the hospital. I've always been surprised that it's not involved anyway.

As an aside regarding your games convention, you should get in contact with us at the Fighting Games forum (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1204). Any convention that is willing to give us a bit of room and any help with set ups will get some attendance. I can only see that being improved for a charity convention.
