So the simple matter is i want to move from cork to Limerick with my girlfriend for college next year (both of us are going to UL) and i just recently lost my part time job.

I have been searching for a part time job in cork since and have found absolutely nothign and heard nothing back from my c.v handouts. I'm not too worried about my deposit that has to be paid for where we are living cause my parents can help out with that. But I'm very worried about getting employed from now until then to be able to make about 1,000 - 2,000 to cover living expenses until the grant comes through. I'm worried I won't find a job and i can't stay in Cork for family reasons and UL has the course i want that Cork does not.

So really I'm just looking for advice, should i be looking into student loans? or should i be waiting till summer to look for jobs?? I just don't know what to do and its stressing me out.

All colleges have an additional financial fund called the student assistance fund

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I know the student assistant fund exists for UL but it is not paid until March applications deadline is December so it might not help the OP with the initial cost for setting up in Limerick as most probably his grant will be through by then dependent on the new system of central application for grant is an improvement on the current scheme.
