    Howdi all,

My car is feeling maybe 30% down on power and when I rev the engine there a metalic rattling noise from under the driver seat where the cat is. Its more noticeable once the engine is warmed up. It looks like classic signs of a cat beginning to disintegrate, last replaced in early 2006, 100,000 miles ago.

Question is, do people have experience of spurious cats from GSF, Otto, Micks garage.ie etc? I heard rumours that they dont last any length of time and are poor value in the long run. The one I have in it now thats possibly failing was a main dealer part costing a scary 1000 euro 6 years ago. Im hoping not to go there again.

    Cheers. :)

De-cat it. I have heard a lot of people saying that spurious cats don't last though. A mechanic told me that you should really just use them for test and take them out after, or else go OEM.

I don't use him anymore
