Don't worry about money, she'll be treated. Wrong forum btw, but I'm sure a mod will move it.

    miniml,
Your daughter will be treated no matter what your circumstances. Children are treated free of charge in Ireland.
My work colleague's daughter had a hole in her heart at birth, she is now a happy, bouncy 4 year old.
I know how difficult it is not to worry about your child, but this will be sorted and she will be fine.
    Best of luck.

    OP.

Please try not to worry about the cost of the treatment , it will be done whatever

Try doing the following , have a pad / pen somewhere convenient . As you think of questions for the consultant ( which could be while you are making a cup of tea or anything ) , go and write them down.

next time you see the consultant take the pad with you and ASK .

Believe me , they have heard all of these questions before and none are stupid.

Best of luck to you and your daughter in the future , hope she is fine

Do not worry about the cost of treatment - if you have a medical card and your circumstances haven't changed hopefully you will be issued with a new medical card. If the surgery is carried out and you have an Medical Card to cover the dates there would be no charges.

There is a charge for public patients in a Children's hospital if you haven't got a medical card, the fee is €75 per night to the max of 10 nights in any 12 month period. So the max you would have to pay is €750. The hospitals do realise that this is a lot of money to pay off in one go however they do accept installment payments. To put yourself at ease if you ring the Patient's Accounts Department and speak to them they will go through all payment options.

There would be no other fees (i.e. Consultants, Radiology fees) unless you go in as a private patient.

    Hope this helps
