Offredo Banned

Yank Offredo (FDJ) banned for 12 months for violation of the whereabouts rule. He was not at specified location three times.

His ban was not backdated unlike the Contador ban (for a different offense).

Strikes me as unfair. I do not in any walk of life believe in backdating punishment, but if Berties punishment was backdated then why not here also.

Yet again the cycling and anti-doping bodies have shown (IMHO) that they have absolutely no way of dealing and punishing cases that fall becore them.
There appear to be a huge variety in who gets punished & for how long.

There's a difference between the two cases though. Had the RFEC ruled against Contador, he would have been suspended from there on in. In Contador's case, he was found guilty on appeal and it was the CAS who found against him, ruling he should have been suspended all along, hence the backdating.

Fair enough. I am not defending Offredo, but it would seem that he falls foul of punishment imposed by a relatively strict French federation. Contrast that with Valverde and Contador before Spanish federation.

    It's nuts.

Dispute resolution, investigation and sentacing should be centralised and applied consistently. That is my only point really.

Although, the whereabouts rule, while unfortunately necessary is a gross enfingement on personal liberties.
