Question about supplementary welfare

I stopped getting Illness benefit in January and had to re apply for the jobseekers benefit. The woman in the social welfare office told me that it could take up to 6 weeks to get and if im stuck for money in the mean time i can apply for supplementary welfare from the HSE.

So i went and applied and the officer gave me €144 a week untill I hear back about my jobseekers claim.

My question/s is/are.. will I have to pay back the supplementary welfare money I am getting when I get my jobseekers? Will I get back payed for the weeks I have been waiting? And/or if I do will they take the payment from that sum? What way does it work?

    Any info would be appreciated!

    Thank you

You will normally get payments backdated to when you applied for jobseekers, all moneys received from the hse will be deduced from your back money.
