Mods, not sure where this should go, so please move as appropriate

I've been on Weight Watchers maintenance for the past 18 months, and have gained about a half stone in the past 6 months, and am eager to lose it - to that end, I decided to take up running (it's something that I'd wanted to try for a while), so I've gone the way of Couch to 5k..........

Anyway, to my point! I've absolutely no experience in running and up to this point runners were for hanging around in, so I'd be grateful if folks could point me the way of the best running shoes, within a limited enough budget, as in I don't want to be dropping €70 to €100 on a pair of runners (ideally)! I have a wide foot at the front, but a slim heel so something that can meet those would be useful

    Thanks in advance :D

Don't buy some runners because a friend wears them and says they're good. There is no right pair of runners for everyone. The right pair for you depends on
    - the shape of your foot
    - your gait
    - the amount of miles you intend to run in them
    - your weight
    - the conditions you'll run in

Go to a shop where you can get expert advice, not some random tracksuits-and-runners shop. Gait analysis is a useful tool, but the main thing is that the staff in the shop know what they're talking about.

    +1.
Congratulations on taking up what I hope will continue to being a really enjoyable activity.

About runners... if you have only been slouching around in leisure trainers you likely wont have been tying your laces ;)
Make sure you tie them up securely so that they will do what you are paying them to do .

I dont know how many times in races I have seen people in expensive structured runners with laces tied so loosely or not at all so they didnt benefit from them.
    Happy running.:)
