For some reason I am unable to reply to the above sentence in another thrnead about IT Jobs in Ireland.

"So where are all of the unemployed Irish? Too busy living it up on the dole to care about working for a living."

I used to have the same attitude as this poster, till I got let go from my 40k job and had to move back in with my parents and live on €147.30 a week. €30 I give to my parents, and €60 p/m for a phone bill I am contracted to for the next 12 months. I would love a job but their are NONE in my field.
    .......
So who are are all the people "living it up"?... Are any of you actually enjoying being on the dole?

I am at the moment on a Springboard course doing a Post Grad Diploma in Cloud Computing at NCI and I am enjoying it. When I graduate in September I will have new skills giving me more of a chance to find a job.

Then get a job in another field, IT gives you scope to do a lot of things, granted you might have to take a hair cut on the 40k but you'll get back there again in a while.
You can't live it up on the dole unless your working in the black market.

It's not. If I did not do the course I would be trying to get a job and not being successful. What's wrong with pointing out something that the unemployed can do. If they don't want to do the course I am on there is tons of other courses available all over the country.

Ive worked in fashion retail (have a degree etc) in for 14 years. Jobs.ie has had the same few jobs up for 4 weeks now.
I have applied for everything in my field alongside resaurant/secretarial/evrything.

Anyway thats irrevelant to this thread.
I just wondered does anyone actually enjoy being on the dole?!

If I enjoyed being on the Dole I would not be on Springboard.

Sorry it was literally a small joke, as your first post was so full of information. Fair play to you, hope you get a great job out of it :-)

I enjoyed it, was only for a few months durning the summer one year but it's great getting paid to do what ever you want when the sun is shining. In this weather it must be soul destroying.

No problem. What's your degree in?. Sadly you may have to change disciplines if you want to get a job.
