Underated Black Metal Albums

I feel that these fantastic albums are somewhat underated, and do deserve a lot more praise. They are also worth checking out for anybody who likes quite a lot of melody as well. Unfortunately most of these albums have been forgotten about which is a real shame. These are the albums that I would consider underated:

Gehenna - Seen Through The Veils of Darkness
Dimmu Borgir - For All Tid
Old Man's Child - Born of The Flickering
    Arcturus - Aspera Hiems Symfonia
Opera IX - The Black Opera
Enthroned - Towards The Skullthrone Of Satan
    Moonspell - Wolfheart
Lord Belial - Kiss The Goat
Old Mans Child - Ill - Natured Spiritual Invasion
    Mactätus - Provenance of Cruelty
    Tormentor - Anno Domni
    Dimmu Borgir - Stormblast
Mystic Circle - Infernal Satanic Verses
    Borknagar - The Olden Domain
    Immortal - Damned in Black
    Gehenna - First Spell
Thy Serpent - Forests of Witchery
    Satyricon - Dark Medieval Times
    Mystic Circle - Morgenröte
    Graveworm - Scourge of Malice
    Gehenna - Malice
The Kovenant - In Times Before the Light
Cradle of Filth - The Principle of Evil made Flesh
    Ragnarok - Arising Realm
Bloodthorn - Onwards into the Battle
Nokturnal Mortum - The Voice of Steel
    Ancient - Svartalvheim

I think if anybody loves bands like Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, Enslaved, Immortal, Cradle of Filth, Bathory, Bal-Sagoth and Arcturus, they really should check out these class albums.

Thanks for mentioning Enthroned and especially Mystic Circle :)

But another under-rated band from Germany is Nagelfar. For me, their album 'Virus West' is one of the best Black Metal albums ever made, but they never got the credit, they deserved.

Do Moonspell qualify as Black metal? I always considered them more gothic metal..

Good list, I particularly like the CoF and Dimmu albums, with their later (and I suppose more mainstream or whatever) albums, it's easier for some people to miss those good albums entirely.

I think that 'Wolfheart' and 'Night Eternal' do almost qualify as Black Metal. Although 'Night Eternal' has a few songs that are more gothic metal based. The early Cradle and Dimmu albums are sheer class. I think that Cradle of have gone downhill a lot now, and Dimmu's 'Abrahadabra' was okay with some amazing songs, but just not enough to make me buy it though. I heard they will possibly be going back to their roots for their next album in 2013. I would love if they abandoned the whole orchestra thing and went back to the style of 'For All Tid, Stormblast, Enthrone Darkness Triumphant and Spiritual Black Dimensions'.

Their first album is even better in my opinion.
Another good German black metal band is Lunar Aurora
