    Hi,
Was wondering if anyone knows if there are any dealers that will import a specific car for you and take a trade in without taking the piss financially?
This would save a lot of hassle.
    Any info appreciated.

Do you want a dealer to buy an actual car that you have seen or just some specific type of car?

A paricular spec. of car, not necessarily a specific car that I have seen.
I just think that if somebody in the business would do the getting of the car and take current car as a trade in it may be worth it.
Obviously it would be more expensive than selling privately and going over yourself to purchase but it might be worth paying this premium if it suited.

Where are you based? I know a garage that at least used to offer this service.

Let me get this straight, you want someone to buy a car for you, then prepare, service clean etc. that car, sell it to you with a warranty, then take your car as a trade in, do the same to that, then offer a warranty with that as well and not make a few bob?

Believe it or not, this service was offered here in recent years

If you're in Dublin, Murphy & Gunn in Rathgar might do it for you. They sell a lot of UK S-Maxes and various Audis.

Was it me? I came across a clown this evening

Op the service does exist but by the time it's all done and dusted your not saving anything. I know as I've spent the past few evenings looking for a new car.

The best was the guy selling me a uk import.........but wouldn't take my ex-uk car as they are worth less

Try www.bestpricecars.ie. It's run by a guy called Keith geraghty, I'm going to bring in my own car soon but in conversation a work colleague swore by this guy, they've used him twice now, they said he's very patient and helpful

    thanks for replies and info.
re. Limerickman. I of course would expect the supplying dealer to make a decent profit. My aim would simply be to get a better specified car than would be available here and not have the hassle of selling privately and buying in Uk myself.

Seems reasonable to me .. the dealer is a professional and can presumably work in the costs of sourcing car/servicing/warranty/valet into his price. Presumably the OP is looking for a specific car/spec of car that is difficult to source here. I had this problem with an Titanium spec S-max .. I couldn't source one here because they were like hen's teeth so I sourced one in the UK myself. However, if a dealer was to do that at a price I would have considered the option.

OP, have ya tried up North? I know some NI dealers have/had a partnership with a southern dealer who'd take any irish reg'd car they took in as part exchange? maybe worth ringing a few of the bigger dealers to see what they say.

I've just done this for a good price in wexford, so dealers are still doing it.
