I have a Goodmans 32" model GTM 32w268D Tv, can anyone tell me if it is saorview approved. also LG model 42lh3000. I understand that the list of saorview approved TVs on the saorview site is not exhaustive
    thanks

Already answered to your first in the in the other thread. All Saorview approved products are on the Saorview approved list. If your TVs are not there they're not Saorview approved.

This is the Satellite forum. Saorview related topics should be over here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=56

Neither is on the approved list but the LG should work. That Goodmans model no. you've given doesn't even come up in a google search.

however despite what some contributers are saying the Saorview site does not have have all models listed that are saorview compatible

The Saorview site will only list products that have been submitted by manufacturers for Saorview testing and that have passed the process. It will not list or recommend non Saorview approved products even if MPEG-4/Saorview compatible.
RTÉNL has appointed Teracom AB of Sweden to conduct receiver compliance testing for SAORVIEW receivers, both for STB and iDTV. Receivers which pass the test process thereby meeting the SAORVIEW and NorDig specification are eligible to be licensed to use the “SAORVIEW” logo, this logo will in turn confirm assurance to consumers that the receiver is SAORVIEW compliant.

Manufacturers or distributors wishing to use the SAORVIEW logo should contact Teracom (irdtest@teracom.se) to arrange testing.

Only certified products listed can be called Saorview Compatible.

Anything else is anecdotal and guess. Even if you have it and it seems to work, you can't be sure. You may describe it at "best" in an Advert as "Largely compatible with Irish Digital Television".

Saorview is a Trademark. It can't be used in conjunction with any uncertified product.

These are the only Saorview compatible products.

A new product might get announced a few days before the list is updated.

Anything else (e.g. LG 42LD450 WS HDTV) may seem compatible, but you have no way to prove it.
however despite what some contributers are saying the Saorview site does not have have all models listed that are saorview compatible
Technically they are wrong. Any other model is at your own risk and anecdotal.

Do not actually make a new purchase of a non-certified Model. At this stage, if this was France it would be criminal for a Retailer to offer it IN France.

As with Analogue Era, beware of importing TVs. (UK models no VHF, German ones no sound and French ones not working at all or only B&W no sound in Analogue era till multistandard became the norm.)
