Car selling advice

We currently have 2 cars at home, 1 of which is barely used. As a result I'm thinking of selling my 2011 Skoda Superb privately to free up some cash.

Presume for this type of car an advert on carzone would be a better bet than donedeal & adverts? Any suggestions to what would be a reasonable sales price - its an elegance spec 1.6 diesel with 14k kms

    Thanks in advance

donedeal > carzone imo, no matter what car of whatever age.

if you wanna sell it fast, then check current sales prices across all sites for same model and eyar and price it a tad lower

Put the ad on Carzone, Donedeal and Adverts.ie, no harm having it on all. Pricewise look at whatever a similar spec model with same miles is going for at a dealer and aim to get atleast 20-25% less selling is privately. Spend time taking the phots with the car.fully washed and waxed.

Nah. It's still covered by the manufacturers warranty.

Yes but dealer usually factors in 10-15% cash discount in sticker price and also you have the peace of mind that any finance outstanding will be sorted, I think 20% off dealer sticker price for similar car is a realistic price.

Again it depends totally on how it's priced at the dealers.

A data check will give satisfaction on any o/s finance.

Advertise it everywhere that you can,
There are lots of free places like adverts.ie, Gumtree, local shopping centre notice board, local newspaper free adds. On the rear window, at work, word of mouth - tell everyone that you speak to that your selling it. Don't expect that everyone will be looking for a car on the internet and those that don't will probably pay more for your car as its not as easy to compare prices if you cant do a search on the internet.

    Pictures and description !
Take a look at some professional sites and copy the angles they use to take the pictures - http://www.cargiant.co.uk/BMW/318i/details-536725-BMW-318i.asp?viewtype=0

Description - as much detail that you can without any sob stories about not being able to afford it or anything like that. simply say selling due to upgrade or don't say why you are selling at all.

Thanks guys, appreciate the advice. The good news is I am in no rush to sell, only considering it as it's a good car, just toying with the idea.

The last few cars I have sold have all been through donedeal, no bites of carzone but they weren't quite at the same price level. Will give her a good wash at the weekend and maybe put a few ads up!
