hey i need some serious help with this as im lost and confused my mate has a 03 honda civic 3 door. the passenger window worked the day he got it. after hasn worked since. i checked the fuses first just to rule that out. we assumed it was the motor so i checked that first. motor works. a garage had swiches for both sides so he swapped them and it still didn't work. so all that was left tht i could think off was a break in a cable somewhere. so i did a continuty test on them. there all fine. ahs anybody got any ideas or have i missed something. its driving me up the walls. help :(

So if you put power directly to the motor the window works fine from there but just not from the switches?
It has to be either a faulty switch or a wiring problem.

Is there a chance the switch the garage had was also faulty?
Have you tried disconnecting the switch and applying the power at the block connector and seeing if it works? If it does then that'll 100% eliminate the wiring and tell you its the switch.

well the garage had 3 drivers switches tried them same thing and two for the passenger side and tried them. can you explain a bit better what you mean by applying power at block connector?? which one?

Apply 12 V to the connector of the motor, i.e. the two thickest gauge wires. Either polarity will be fine, one will ind the window up, the other down. Also a resistance test of the motor coil windings would eliminate the motor as being the problem. Check that there is a constant 12 V supply at the wiring loom to the motor using an multimeter with ignition set to position 2. If not, check fuse and relay again.

ive done that to the motor already. it works fine. tho i have not checked the constant 12v supply yet. it is my understanding that if the relay is gone then neither window would work. same with the fuses.

I mean the connector that goes into the window switch itself. Disconnect it and see if you can get the window to work by bridging the wires in the connector.
The fact that you've tried a number of different switches though would make me think it's a wiring problem somewhere though.

Yea i did that. The motor works fine. Well i can find a wiring problem anywhere as the 3 wires coming from.the drivers side to the passenger side are all buzzing out. Im going to di some testing on swithes tomorrow and see is there by any chance that the two of them are faulty

Yeah theres always a chance the switches were faulty. And as you said, if the relay was gone then none of the windows would work.
If you figure out the problem let us know how you sorted it. :)
