    Hi,
Simple question really. is a volvo s40 (r-design:)) 2.0 litre diesel a big enought family car. I have heard murmers of the boot being tiny and the rear seats legroom being non existant.
Is the boot big enough for a buggy and all the other ****e that follows my nine month old girl (at the insistance of her mother:rolleyes:)
I'm havent got my hands on an S40 to try it out with the buggy yet. only looking on the internet so far.
    Thanks

they are poky alright......but you'll get a collapsable buggy in there, but if you were to venture somewhere for the weekend and needed to bring all the kit and caboodle, a roof box on top of the car would be a must.

Two adults and one child (and buggy/kitchen sink), perfect. But two kids and it's just not big enough. The boot is perfectly roomy and you'd be surprised how much will fit in there, but the opening is very constrictive so sometimes you need a little patience. Legroom is fine unless very tall people in the front.

Two adults and a child camping with all the gear; 4 person tent, sleeping bags, clothes, cooking gear, collapsible buggy, beach gear, etc. etc. All fit very neatly in. No roof box required. ;)

horse sh1t - the V50 is a great looking car. You're a dad now buy what you'll be able to live with not what you can put up with just because you want to fool yourself into thinking you "still have a life "

Otherwise buy a CL500 Merc - plenty of room and a coupe ?

I was being a bit sarcastic. But the v50 is probably one of the best looking estate cars out there. and my be an option if the 9 month old gets a brother or sister.

My V50 in my view looks way better than my old Octavia.

Are you saying your worried what other people will think, or what you think ;)

    P.S. I have no kids and a dog. I don't give a sh*t what anyone thinks, I like my car ;)

Every car I buy in the future will be an estate i'd say, I just can't go back ... actually I don't know anyone that doesn't have an estate, some its DIY, others its surfing, some its camping.

But I can't think of anyone that has an Combi for Child related reasons .. gets its just an Irish thing !

I was only Joshing ye - your life is over. But buy an estate, it's so much easier get the buggies etc in and out of it than a saloon of the same size. The V50 is far better looking than the S40 and prices will probably reflect that and ease of resale when it comes to it too.

So it looks like people are saying.... the S40 is fit for purpose, but the V50 would be also a good option (i like the look of both) especially if there was another baby in the next few year. Thanks all;)
