Dont know about anyone else but im well fed up having to buy ten or twelve replacement tags every year. All the tags break at the same place. No effort is being made to improve the design of them. I suppose this is what happens when there is only one tag supplier, its not in their interest to improve them.

I put them well by the head as calves and let the ears grow around them as protection and find we loose alot less/none in the younger cattle/cows compared to when the tags were further towards the tip of the ear!!

Pain in the A** for the AI man writing the docket if she has good hairy ears though

I'm also having excess tags falling out this year, I've put it down to the cattle having lice and scratching themselves more than usual. Apparently there are more lice than other years, no pour-on worked for me, i ended up drowning them with sheep dip! cleaned them up!
If there not scratching due to lice, there could be any number of reasons...

Replacement tags are 2.34 for singles 3.15 for a pair and 5.23 for post and packaging. If the the tags were designed properly, no amount of scratching should cause them to break in half and fall off.
