Hey, myself and 2 of the girls are heading to Dubai over the Easter holidays and I was just wondering if anyone could let me know about the dress code there, I've heard loads of different things....it's right in the centre of Dubai we're staying.

when you are at the hotel going to the pool then I wouldn't really worry, cos everyone is there for the same reason. If you obv aren't going to the beach then I would just be modest. (a light cardi to cover your shoulders and a dress covering your knees). or a pashmina or something to cover your chest. It shouldn't be too hot so you should be ok to be pretty covered. They have the same clothes there - you just normally don't see them.

We stayed in the Jumeriah beach area... tonnes of hotels of course.
We did spend a couple of days in the city centre though.
Its obviously much older, and from what I say, men out & about outnumber women about 10-1... so expect to be stared at!

But as the previous poster said, dress code isnt that big a deal

just as an example I went to dinner in a shopping centre ( a huge one like the one outside dubai) but this was abu dhabi and i had a dress on, sleevless, a few inches above my knees, but modest still by our standards - a normal outfit, but i got stared out of it by a few ppl. So just keep light layers to cover your shoulders and knees.

Dress code at resorts and beach clubs is casual.
The advice given of modest clothing and layers when in the city is the best to follow. A pashamina may also come in handy.

When away form the hotel, in the city, mall etc... dress modestly. Do not have shoulders showing, skirts are fine and shorts for the kids.

Most western females will attract stares, more so if blonde or fair hair.

Feel comfortable in how you dress and you will be grand. Enjoy, its a great place to visit.
