You are getting these responses for some very good reasons:

-Lads have earned their hunting ground and are not likely to tell a stranger where it is.

-You need permission from the owner of the land or the individual with the sporting rights in order to shoot on it. It's not enough to be told where it is and go off shooting; that's called poaching!

-In order to get your license, you must have had permission to shoot somewhere? Otherwise the firearm is not technically legal to use for hunting.

My advise is that the internet is not the place to get permissions. Go out and knock on some doors and ask for permission and what's there that needs shooting. Perseverance will yield reward in the end.

yes now on the other hand ive a good amount of permission on land in longford , and will be doing a bit of rabbit shooting soon , if your interested in a day shooting my self and prob 4200fps will be doing a bit .
what part of the country are you from .

you got the smart ans because it you first post and it looking for shooting ground kinda like me asking you for your shooting ground for deer . (going by your name )

Also, it has just occurred to me that there is a new thread in the 'For sale/ wanted' section for those looking for a days shooting or willing to bring someone out with them. It's not giving you permission on their land, but you might get some shooting that way.

The man is asking WHERE can you find rabbits to shoot, he isnt asking anyone on here for permission, can you not read. Whats with the stupid comments? If someone can give him an answer then its up to him to ask for permission, dont think anyone here needs a lecture about shooting and permission. I know a great place in Roscomon and the farmer would welcome you :D

If you read, and more importantly understood, my post you will find it is not only an answer to the question asked, but also sound advice on how to get permission.

The short answer to the question of where there are rabbits in these counties will be something along the lines of, 'almost everywhere'! They are a bloody pest and can be found easily with a little bit of time, and shot easily with a little bit of skill.
I doubt the OP wants to know where there are rabbits for the fun of it; he will need permission if he wants to shoot them.

It's quite funny that you would use a stupid comment to tell others off for so-called stupid comments.

Fair play 4200fps The lad probably just wanted to know a few general areas that hold rabbits, to go about looking for permission. There are large areas of some countys that dont have any rabbits so its a fair question! Someone new to the forum isnt going to know that its wrong to go looking for permissions on here but he could be told that without pulling the pi*s or giving a lecture. (granted the post almost looks for info on most of connaght) :-)

Well i think the guy already knows that you would have to ask for permission to shoot on the land before he goes shooting any rabbits as he would have being through that situation already to get a deer licence. He obviously doesn't know where there's rabbits as he's asking nicely on this if anyone knows. I sent him locations and he can ask before he goes after any. If you don't know where there's rabbits is hard to ask for permissions. He doesn't need a lecture or he doesn't deserve smart comments

No lecture, genuine advice. My initial comment also helps to explain the five comments above yours. As this is the lad's first post, he might get the wrong opinion of the board.

Where does it says he has a deer license? You can get a deer license by holding a Coilte let and never have to ask for farmer's permissions. If you are assuming he has a deer license based on his user name, you may be mistaken. It might be the case that he uses a 308 for target shooting, or maybe it's just a user name.

My advice still stands: if you go and ask farmers in a given area, you will find out whether there are rabbits there or not. Failing that, go to the thread in the 'for sale/ wanted' section that is mentioned above.

Anyway, he has received advice on how to find out whether there are rabbits on certain land and how he might obtain permission to shoot there, and you have kindly given him information on where to start asking. I won't de-rail the thread anymore by responding to anymore BS comments on my initial explanation and advice.

The OP could be looking for actual rabbits and not shooting so lets not jump the gun and start offering things until we get a response from him/her.

As the OP is a new user and assuming no-one knows who s/he is how can anyone know he has a deer license, shooting permissions or even a firearm? A name on boards does not indicate prior knowledge or experience. So there are no "wrong" answers, and the lectures (as they are called) are warranted to seek further info aswell as to provide info.

Lastly the opening posts are in jest, and should be taken with a pinch of salt. So lets lighten up, and cut out the name calling, and bitching posts.

EDIT - I have removed the post in the For Sale section as the OP has not made it clear exactly what s/he is looking for.

1st of all how does your comment explain why he deserved the smart comments? Hasn't he a right to ask where can he go to hunt rabbits? Everybody got their hunting grounds the same way as he's doing it now by asking other people. I asked other hunters where to go to hunt rabbits and i'm doing the same favour for this gent. I THINK YOUR GIVING GOOD ADVISE ALRIGHT FOR SOMEONE WHO IS TRING TO GET THEIR 1ST LICENCE FOR A GUN. YOUR ON THE WRONG THREAD LAD :D

    • Where did the OP ask for hunting?
    • Where did the OP ask for buying them?
    • Where did the OP ask for permissions?
    • Where did the OP ask for anything?
All posts here are based on assumptions. So lets wait until we get a response form the OP before going further on what s/he may or may not want.

And again i'll ask EVERYONE to heed my warning above about tone, content of posts. No further warnings will be issued.
