Sorry for if this is a stupid question; I am applying for a job that says "apply in writing only". Shoud I include cv or not?

I am assuming apply in writing means, you either need to write up your CV and Cover Letter in your own handwriting or type in a word document and post it rather than email it. Has it stated any other instructions as to how to apply?

I think you couldn't go wrong with writing out a cover letter which means you are applying in writing, not necessary to give them a CV but I would still hand one in even if its typed up.

The best thing you could do is write your cover letter in your own handwriting, have a CV typed up in word, print it. Post the two rather than by email.

A cover letter alone might not be substantial for the application so best to have a CV with it just in case.

Maybe get in contact with the company, employer or HR as to confirm the procedure they might tell you more clearly what to actually do.

Its not as common to send a handwritten application including CV and Cover Letter. Though having a CV and Cover Letter typed up and posted rather than emailed still occurs to this day but not as popular as sending by email or application form.

Is there an application form? You need to fill that in with your handwriting and post it to them if that is the case when they are asking for an application in writing only.

Be clear as to what they have asked you regarding how you apply. If you don't apply the way they want you too your application could be binned on the spot. If they state a CV send it too them. Whether or not they state a Cover Letter you should still send both a CV and Cover Letter and vice versa.

    Best of luck OP

What I have understood of "apply in writing would be send in your cv and a cover letter (typed as normal) but don't ring or go in saying "give me a job". I would guess its an employer that candidates could enter the premises and from my own experience it gets a little frustrating @ times when people are wandering in off the street.

I would also interpret "apply in writing" to mean "post us your cover letter and CV".

I would not interpret it as having anything to do with actual hand writing.
