Can anyone recommend a hotel in Paris.

I will be going with my teenage daughter at Easter and would like somewhere safe and within walking distance to all the sights.
    Anyone any suggestions?

    Royal Magda Etoile Hotel

Stayed here before, very handy if flying in with Ryan Air & taking the shuttle from Beauvais

Spitting distance from the Arc de Triomphe underneath which you will find a metro station to take you wherever you wish to go

It's a small hotel, I'd happily stay there again

    Check it out on tripadvisor

I can only recommend one hotel Hotel Louvre Rivoli, just off Rue de Rivoli. Its quite well located - you can walk up to the louvre (10-15mins, notre dame 12-20mins or 10-15 mins on the metro up to the arc de triomphe).

I lived in Paris last year (I now live 45 mins away from it) so I know it pretty well. I stayed in that hotel 3 years ago I found it pretty good - my friends were impressed cos it was my choice.

If you are looking for somewhere "nice" to stay in a nice area then i'd stay in the 5th/ 6th not as many sights but very nice. Also I love the marais (4th). I lived up by Moulin Rouge (the good side) and its not really as bad as you would think. So I love montmartre, its very touristy up there and really nice to wander around and go for coffee. Theres a few nice hotels there. Timhotels aren't normally anything fancy but the one in montmarte is a lovely location.

Most of Paris is safe, definitely so within the ringroad. The sights are spread around across many districts, so if you are near one, you'll be far from another one. Usually the single digit districts are considered the best for first time visitors, but there are also great areas - like Montmartre - further out. Anyhow, here are some nice mid-range hotels in some great locations.

Paris Louvre Opera Best Western, 1st district http://hotelparislouvreopera.com/
Hotel Ascot near the Opera and Louvre, 2nd http://ascotparishotel.com/
Hotel Meslay Republique and Hotel De Neuve in the Marais, 3d and 4th

Hotel Sully Saint Germain in the Latin Quarter, 5th http://www.hotelsullysaintgermain.com/
    Crystal Hotel in Saint-Germain, 6th http://hotelcrystalsaintgermainparis.com/
Hotel de l'Alma near the Eiffel Tower, 7th http://www.alma-paris-hotel.com/
Hotel Massena near the Opera, 8th http://www.paris-hotel-massena.com/
Hotel Aston near musee grevin, 9th http://www.aston-hotel-paris.com

First try to decide on a location and search accordingly. Read reviews on portals like tripadvisor.com or booking.com, but also check the official websites of hotels to compare prices. Often, although not always, they offer better prices.

I've stayed in Paris a few times and love the St. Germain Des Pres area. I don't know if it would be central enough for you but it is a bustling place in the evening and there are a few cinemas (showing English films) if that's of any use to you.
The last time I stayed, i stayed in this hotel http://hotel-paris-univers.com/ and really liked it. It's the first time I found a hotel in Paris I would return to!!
