    Golf for dummies By Gary Mccord is available on Google books, I suggest giving it a read. The "for dummies" series are brilliant and the golf one in particular is very entertaining and will let you know everything you need to get going.

    Lot's of jokes and trivia thrown in too, I particularly like the section where the average distances for men and women are shown, Driver: Men 230y Women 200y etc etc Lob Wedge: Men 60y Women 6y .... :p
