I find I can't stomach food at that time of day. It makes me all bloated and weak and horrible. I have to wait till around lunch time before I can eat.

I know its the "most important meal of the day" blah blah blah but it just makes me feel unwell.

    So...do you eat a breakfast? 241 votes

A full Irish I can always manage.

Porridge? No way. I'd rather starve.

Does coffee and cigarettes count as breakfast?

I used to be like this when I didn't give a **** about my diet.
I now eat a bowel of muesli in the mornings.
I feel that a light breakfast definitely helps with weight loss.

Your asking this at 20:24 in the evening.....

Unless your in australia and its breakfast time it strikes me that you have a fairly empty plate to begin with.

Had there been a "Sometimes - if possible!" option, I would have selected that.

I'm the same. Went without breakfast until shortly before Christmas just gone; I used to fell nauseous if I ate first thing. Now it's porridge with blueberries or poached eggs and bacon. Doesn't take your body too long to get used to eating breakfast if you're not in the habit; a week or two eating something small in the morning and soon you'll be lost without it.

For years I couldn't handle a breakfast, recently I've been force feeding myself porridge in the mornings. Gah - it's so horrible. Make the pulpy texture stop!

I love my breakfast, mind you its usually about 2pm before I have it, cant stand eating before that.

Yes, I need food first thing. I actually like my smallest meal of the day to be lunch, I make it as small as possible without starving myself. If I eat even an average-sized lunch, I become zombiefied and unproductive for the entire afternoon.

Meal size-wise, it goes like this for me:

    Dinner > Breakfast > Lunch

Only something light and I have to be awake about an hour before I can even think about it. I feel sick otherwise.

Sultana bran and low fat milk for breakfast, a light lunch and a veggie packed dinner never later than 6 o clock topped off with 20 fags and about 10 cups of coffee healthy.

It's 7.46am and i just had muesli, a banana, an apple and a bottle of water at my desk in work.

Trying to lose weight because I am a fat mess and always find a good breakfast helps. I won't be hungry until lunch and won't thinking about snacking on crap food. Also find I don't get tired around 3pm when I eat like this.

How can breakfast make you feel sick? What's different about that time of day than any other?

Usually have muesli and fruit. Could skip if I wanted but I find that having breakfast makes me lunch later and then I'm not hungry before I get home for dinner.

toast with chocolate spread first thing, yum yum with pure orange juice.

I have a hot lemon and honey when I get up first and then have my breakfast when I get to work, I don't like eating straight away when I get up.

This just makes me feel kind of strange for eating only one actual meal and Hob Nobs every day.

I feel sick when I skip breakfast. Usually go for 2 weetabix + 2 hard boiled eggs

Well I wake up 4:00 in the morning and off to work, then I am very very very busy at work up untill 9:00. If I am lucky I might get a small break and have some breakfast, but for normal people it would be lunch I guess. For the Last few weeks I am on very ****y diet :(. Wake up 4:00 then have coffe at 8:00. Then few more coffee from 8:00 to 11:00. When I am back home my stomach is ****ed from all the coffe and I can't eat at all. When misses back home we eat some dinner at around 19:00, then rinse and repeat :(.

    Breakfast of champions.

I have a big bowl* of hot milk with cereal. Usually Crunchy Nut's or Rice Crispies with loads of brown sugar.

I can't eat porridge any more as it reminds me of the Gulag. :( Yeuch!

    *Because I'm a big boy. :)

After a long sleep some people don't feel like eating. I don't feel like it much myself but I always have a boiled egg, then a banana and coffee. Definitely keeps sugar cravings and extreme hunger at bay all day.

Love breakfast always hungry for it cos usually work out before it, rice krispies and ice cold milk with a glass of pink grapefruit juice or fresh grapefruit or orange.

Have to get breakfast into me,can't understand these people who don't have time for breakfast yet find time to stand in line at a deli counter before they go to work.60 seconds and you have your cereal ready to eat while the kettle is boiling.

I was just never able to face food first thing. I'd regularly go until about 11 or 12 before needing any food, maybe 10 if I had a particularly busy morning (after getting up at 7:30/8). Even now I find I'm more sensitive to strong smells early in the day as opposed to any other time. I can't really explain why; maybe I'm just not a morning person.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

Yes every morning, no matter how sick, hungover I am or how much I am rushing, I'll always have my breakfast. Only exception if I had to fast for a medical appointment.

I flippin hate breakfast, can't stomach it so early in the morning. But I know it's important so I make myself have a yoghurt drink thingy and a glass of juice. I can't handle any more than that. Have a cup of tea then around 11 and then lunch at 1. I don't eat late at night generally so that's not why I'm not hungry in the mornings. I wish I was hungry in the mornings, always feel like I'm missing out on something!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,940 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

Nope. The most I'd have is tea and toast

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 211 ✭✭_LilyRose_

I wake up staaaarrrrving...eat breakfast around 7am during the week..usually only have time for tea and toast but even when i have time for two slices of toast, porridge, tea, piece of fruit and a massive glass of water my stomach is rumbling at 11

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,673 ✭✭✭Stavro Mueller

I try to but I struggle. Am really not a morning person. I've started having a banana and a cup of coffee and I can just about manage that. I do think that the people who've always had their breakfast in the mornings don't understand the struggle us non-breakfast eaters have to eat anything at all. I literally can't have more than about two tablespoons of cereal or porridge i the morning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

I couldn't go the day without a breakfast! I'd miss it too much. No matter how late I wake and get up I'd always have my breakfast first. I could go without a dinner though no probs if I had to.

I can't stomach anything substantial in the morning and have a strong gag reflex (:pac:) if I persist. I researched it a while back and its apparently down to the digestive system not being fully in sync with being up yet. An expresso and a small biscuit does me perfect untill 11.

As I lie in bed, mid afternoon, in a semi-conscious state, I often curl my the pubes about my perineum around my index finger and then pull with all my might. This usually results in a large amount of skin, hair, blood and some fecal material dislodging in my hand. I stuff this mangled, tangled mess into my mouth and swallow it before I roll out of bed. It is a breakfast which has never failed to provide me with all the necessary nutrients.

Second post I've seen you use perineum. What's your fascination with gooches?

Always. I've got a routine I do in the mornings and if I deviate from it, it just feels weird.
