As above it's this document you should have received in the post after you bought the car.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Anyone know why they ask for it?

Crap, were was that put :( can't actually remember getting that. The place that we got the car from sent us the tax disk which we got about 3 weeks after getting the car, but can't remember getting the certificate that you are showing.

If an issue arrises like number of seatbelts not matching number of seats not matching what's on the cert they can verify it.

For what it's worth, I did my NCT today (Northpoint), and I wasn't asked for the registration form - just my drivers license, so maybe you could get away without presenting it. (I, of course, had spent a couple of panic-filled hours looking for my registration cert - which I eventually found - this morning...)

The last NCT I did only required a drivers licence aswel

I did my NCT last few days ago, and I was asked to present registration certificate.

I did the NCT two weeks ago and was asked for it. It's to confirm the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) number matches the actual car. This is to prevent somebody swapping number plates with a similar car etc... It was always a requirement of the NCT, they've just started really enforcing it since Prime Time did a certain program on them. There have been posters here in the past who've failed as the numbers don't match, mainly due to typos.

Car passed, and they did ask for the Vehicle Registration, at northpoint 1. It was good to see what they do, they almost do a full service but don't fix anything.
All I got told was there is a crack in the bumber and that I might want to put some tape on it.

Had the NCT this morning was asked for the reg cert when i was booking in the car I told him it was in the glove box (which it was kinda) they never looked at it

I know this because I realised yesterday the cert in have is the one the garage gave me when I bought the car the top section with the previous owners details were cut off and sent to the motor tax office I don't have a cert with my name on it at all
I reckon if they had looked at my cert it may have set off alarm bells (oops)

NCT have become fussy about docs. ID etc lately, for a long time they just asked for the money.

Totally depends on who you are dealing with behind the counter, some ask for it, some don't. I'd rather have it with me and not be asked for it than not have it with me and then be asked for it.

i think i was only asked once for this, but my dad failed the nct before because one digit of the chassis number didnt match the one on the car, i think it was just a misprint on the cert, so he had to go get a new one,
im not sure which test centre it was but they took it seriously,

They've tightened up on the paperwork since the tv programme highlighting the dodgy goings on at NCT centres.
