Getat Watches?

They're supposed to be great value for money alright. I've one on the way to me. Not always popular with the purists, as they're usually obvious "homages" of other brands.

Do you mean the crown is on the left hand side? I'd imagine that's simply for people (normally lefties) who wear a watch on their right arm.

Can you give a link to the page itself rather than a picture?

A few watch designs over the years featured winder crowns on the "inside" of the wrist as worn on the left wrist. It seems to have been thought of as a protective thing, particularly with large crowns such as you might find on divers watches.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Would that not be quite uncomfortable on a large watch? That said, a protruding crown on the hand side can be irritating as well, as I'm finding out at the moment.

I can't link as the site is using frames but it's in the 50mm section. (on iPad).

Parnis 50mm Pvd case Black Sandwich dial with white numerals.

Sorry yeah the crown. I wear on my left wrist, does this mean this watch is only for lefties? :(

Here's the direct link - no idea why they're bothering with framesets; very annoying.

It says mechanical and not automatic, so I don't think it matters whether you wear it or not; it would still need to be wound up? Their FAQ watch has details about winding.

Wibbs is probably right - it might be designed for the left hand. It's a very large watch, with a big crown though. I like big watches, but I don't know if I'd take a chance on something that big sight unseen.

I have one and I love it. The build quality and weight are incredible for the cost. I can't really recommend them enough. Only downside is the long lead time from order to delivery.

I have one also. I think they are pretty good value fir what you get. I bought mine after trying on Sparrowcar's one.
Homer, who has a proper Pam (000) also tried mine out and I think he was impressed also.
I could never get away with the size your looking at though. Mine is 44/45 mm and it is pretty much the biggest I would go.

    What model did you get?
Did you buy from the site Siswatch727?
Did yours have the crown on the left or right?
Did you have to pay customs?
And how long did delivery take?

I had, until I flipped it recently, a Getat Parnis hand wind from siswatch

    39CC8B88DAC8411793FA500F1B08F556-0000341658-0002478372-00500L-A039BA9402154F6BAD086D0FCA874302.jpg

and can concur that as a value proposition (provided you don't get nabbed by customs :p) they are great value for money from a build and quality perspective.
Saw both Mitch and Sparrowcars Pam homages and they are very nice.
Delivery was about two weeks or just under in my case and as they are not readily available here you'll have no problem moving it on if you decide to at some stage in the future.
Oh and the movement is probably on a par with whats in my PAM :o

One thing to keep in mind when buying a GETAT, Parnis (or any other non-branded) watch directly from China/HongKong is that in the worst case you may have to send it back because it isn't working (or stopped after a few days)

The problem is usually the movement. All these watch builders / customizers get their movements from sometimes indifferent sources.

Chinese movements are cheap ...but not that cheap and the actual movement producing companies don't always sell to everyone consistently.

There have been cases where batches of low grade or QC rejects were sold on to these small makers and by the time they were cased and shipped half way across the world they were finally dead.

This isn't a regular occurance and usually these watches are fine ...but it does happen.

Bit of a pain when you got cought for customs ...because that cost certainly won't be refunded

I have a couple and really for the money they are excellent. Ideal as daily beaters.

Yeah, I would have bought one a long time ago ...except I hate the PAM style crown and guard (and those without didn't quite appeal so much)
