    Exciting day of racing

Jess Ennis runs WL of 7.87 to beat Danielle Carruthers

Later Liu Xang and Robles in a repeat of last years controversial World Championships final

Also Farah should be on course to take European 2 mile record in a strong field

Great performance by Ennis, she also got a PB in the Long Jump with 6.47. It should be a great comp in Istanbul with Chernova and Dobrynskaya having good results as well. Liu Xang easily bet Robles in a NR. thought it would be closer. Defar and Dibaba looked very good in the middle distances. Surprising result in the Mens 60m, Clarke won in a new Jamacian NR of 6.47 with Powell back in 3rd in 6.50. Proper came 8th in the long jump with 5.98

The beeb coverage has a lot of filler. Not a fan of Edwards and Jackson

Very surprised with the mens 60m result, thought Collins or Powell would have won that one! Farah's race was a good one, was hoping he'd destroy the competition though, sadly it was not to be...Kipchoge was just too far ahead in the last stretch :(

I don't think its the fault of the commentators but there is too much mindless chat.

I think athletics needs to change the format of meets if it wants to be more attractive to TV fans. A 3.5 hr program is just too much to hold most peoples' attention. Events need to be slicker with fewer, shorter gaps. Otherwise it will only attract those who are already fans.

Maybe the coverage should be on C4 so they can use ads as the filler between events and get Ortis back as link man?
