Just checking the sporting headlines when I came across this.
A black boxer slapped a white boxer across the face.
Now should this be deemed as a racist gesture because I feel
if it was the other way around I'm quite sure that it would
be deemed so? Are we to excuse some blacks for their ignorance.

    Opinions please.

Don't be silly. Black people can't be guilty of racism.

Why would it have been construed a racist gesture if it was the other way around?

    Boxers physically attacked each other?

    Dear lord!

Boxing used to be about humility and not letting your ego get in the way of the sport.

What is the world coming to? *tut tut*.

A boxer slapped a boxer in the face. If it was the other way around it would be considered as 'a boxer slapped a boxer in the face'.

There is no need to bring race into it and on the several occasions where there have been pre-fight antics between boxers of different ethnic backgrounds, it has never been portrayed as a race issue.

You're looking for something which isn't there.

"I will end the Klitschko reign and cause a massive upset," said the Londoner. "It is the end for Vitali, I promise you."

What happened to the last pigmentally challenged chap from England who tried to do just that?

Nothing racist about it. Just a sad attempt at promoting a fight that will be extremely boring.

...wouldn't "pigmentally challenged" imply a lack of pigment?

The last fellow would absolutely defintely have won, if it wasn't for his broken little toe (the cornerstone of boxing), which he showed to everyone on tv on numerous occassions, and it looking all broken.

Yeah it's a wonder the PC Brigade didn't hold a protest. Have a look at THIS.Imagine the howls of indignant protests if it were the other way round about a white politician.

    Don't be silly McCarthy.

You're just trolling, looking to annoy people.

You know that what's important is his intention.

You know that if he hit the other man because he's white, it would be a racist action.

If he hit him as, is more likely, he doesn't like him or is trying to wind him up (something I'm sure you know a little about), it would not be a racist action.

    Poor effort.

On second thoughts, there is something unpleasant behind all this.

Can it be true, Derek Chisora hates all men whose surnames being with 'K'

    God damn k-ist.

Ban him....or burn him. Whichever, just do it quickly and angrily.

    Garrr.

    Not racism just scumbaggery

    Nothing much to see here.......

    This always happens OP

The managers tell them to act angry and give a few slaps in front of the media to hype it up

The two boxers are probably best friends out of the ring

    Apparently he's a member of the non-K non-K non-K

It happened between two boxers first and foremost. Do not let how it was reported polarise your view.
I would ask why the altercation was reported stating the boxers skin colours. It takes away from the incident of unsporting conduct.
If this was reported in the print media as black hits white I would question the authors motives. ie stories like this sell more or thay may have been making an angle out of a very weak story.
To finish, again it was two boxers nothing to do with the pigment of their skin unless there is a bonfide quote to the contary from the boxers.

It wouldn't be deemed a racist gesture if it were the other way around, well maybe by eejits who nobody would take seriously. Because it isn't racist.

As for SLJ voting Obama because he's black - poor reason to vote, but only to help get the first black president in the White House, which obviously isn't required for white presidential candidates, so a pretty disingenuous comparison.

I thought the correct phrase was "chromatically challenged". When a black guy punches a white guy in the chops, it's only racism if he calls him a honkie cnut as well.
