Interesting I hope they don't just take the normal front line guys like Aileen, Gavin etc and go with more of the elite age groupers

I'd put money on David Vaughan being one. :D;)

    Conor Murphy is likely also.

Ben Shaw, Joyce Wolfe, Owen Cummins, Bryan McCrystal?

Given that they are saying self funded, I would imagine LCD would be added to that list. It would be nice if there were some Long Distance athletes covered.

David Vaughan is definitely one anyway.

Isn't McCrystal associated with an english outfit? Would say thats him out.

LCD has gotten two sweet Look bikes, one with electronic shifting from CycleSuperstore, cannot see him shifting. They've been good to him.

I think it's Primera or someone like that BMC is with.

I see Owen Cummins and Amy Wolfe named as first 2 athletes. Strong Cork bias??? :p

    Bryan McCrystal & David Vaughan

I just don't know what to say.

I remember a girl who compared herself to a ferrari once. That ended well.

Hmmm I'd say Martin Muldoon and Matt Molloy will be picked.

What exactly is this? Just some blog that will post their race results?

Its not a pro team and I can't see them sponsoring any of them... the design is a bit **** also :)

Saw that similar. Whois. A great tool.

    Promotion of themselves??

I do struggle to see the point. I don't see the draw back to the site.

To me it's just a forum (in the traditional non-IT way) for a collective of Irish triathletes to help them self promote and grow their own brand which in turn will assist them in raising their profile and may aid them in gaining more sponsorship.

    Good luck to them.

And what's wrong with them being proactive and gathering all their info and data together in the interests of them and triathlon.

    Benefits:
    - Increased exposure/presence for athletes
    - Centralised results/forum/web content of their results
    - More accessible info relating to the athletes
    - Basically they are the best in Ireland competing at International events

I'm all for it, will find it handy tracking their results on one location and hopefully it will have more content and info on the athletes etc as it goes on.

    Best of luck to them.

Matt Molloy has just joined Team Freespeed in London. This is another (dare I say 'more' AGer than pro style but more long distance focused) collection sponsored to some degree by a London retul bike fitter - Freespeed. They use twitter well but need to put out more actual content as there are some interesting athletes there.

Declan Doyle is also part of that team - another Irish AGer who is close to 9hrs IM.

I would support their initiative - Freespeed are quite clearly gaining good sponsorship opportunites for their athletes - an 'athlete package' as such.

Wasn't there a discussion recently about the lack of racing opportunities for very good young athletes - perhaps in the future the Emeralds could play a supporting role - put something back into developing some younger Irish guys or act as a support network for them at foreign races.

nothing at all, so why does'nt the site tell us this rather than being so vague that it looks ridiculous?
