Item not as described

I purchased an item on eBay and it's markedly different from the picture in the auction. It only cost a tenner though. I'm wondering whether to contact the seller and tell them I got the wrong thing or say nothing and put in a claim and say it never arrived. I know the latter is dishonest but the seller must know they've messed me around. If I contact him he'll probably ask me to return it. I'll have to use registered post and since it only cost a tenner to begin with I'll be more out of pocket.

The best way would be that I return it and the seller refunds me the original cost and the cost of returning it. I'm not sure this happens on eBay though? Any advice please guys? I'm really peeved at not getting what I wanted by the way  (just thought I'd vent!)

  • That page mentions nothing about getting refunded for the return postage cost though.

:edit: Hang on it does! Buyers are responsible for the return costs except in unusual circumstances! Feck that!

You can always open a dispute and enter an amount you would be happy with accepting, the seller can weigh up the options and decide if its worth his while to accept it being returned, or give you a partial refund.
