converting MOV files

    Hi folks. i have a bunch of videos from a holiday of mine from a video camera and they are all in MOV format but for whatever reason they wont play properly on my laptop(audio is perfect but video skips constantly). is this normal? i have been advised that should i convert it to AVI or some other format? should i and how does one go about doing that (software?)?

    thanks and apologies for all the questions but would love to get these videos sorted.

    Try Videolan. It plays almost everything.

    no unfortunately not Ive got VLC but same issue. i converted one of the small vids through mediaconverter.org to avi and it seemed to fix the problem but i dont know how to convert larger them on a larger scale (i might have 10gb of videos)?
