Hey all, first to this side of the forum with a small querie.

My laptop (Acer 5735z) has a probably broken charger port. Any charger i use with heats up and actual burns at the tip after about 20 minutes. Im assuming somethings shorted internally as its happened with a few chargers.

I want to go and get it repaired but wondering could anyone fill me in on what exactly it could be - just so im going in to the store with a bit of knowledge and dont get screwed over on prices. What exactly should a repair of this entail, and how much would a good store charge for it? Im assuming the port will need to be replaced anyway. What more would need to be done?

Obviously it can differ from case to case but if anyone has encountered something like this and was happy with the repair they received, any help would be greatly appreciated!

That laptop is not as difficult to repair as you might think.
