    Dear All

I am involved in running a competion which between 10 institutions which requires all to have GUI handicaps. The Format is 100 golfers , 10 players ( 5 team pairs from each institution each pair playing 2 ball better ball with best 4 of the 5 team score added together to record institution score.

We want to check everyones GUI handicap by getting htem to log into the GUI at the club. I wondered if we could use the GUI system to calculate results off line as this will be a a non qualifying event for individual handicaps

Have asked at the club we will be playing at but still waiting for an answer.

    Dak

It should be possible to set up an Open Competition and have it as Non Counting. All players would sign in using their GUI card/number and when competition is finished , print the results and then delete the competition from the system

The GUI do not operate either handicap or competition software but have approved certain operators to do so on their behalf.

The handicapping system is operated by Golfnet and the most popular approved competition software is Convenor (operated by genesys).

What happens at club level is that competitions are set up on Convenor (by Pro Shop, club staff or volunteers). Players then swipe into the competition and, when the competition ends, the competition is closed. The club then has to upload the results (including automatically calculated handicap adjustments for qualifying competitions) to the Golfnet system.

Sure, registered golfers can check their handicaps online through the Golfnet system – but it is password protected.

As far as I know, the Convenor system only caters for singles competitions – but you could try Google to find software that handles team events (or use Excel or a manual process).

    Good luck!

You can check handicaps by texting the 8 digit GUI number to 086 3832600, and you get reply quoting the players name and exact HC. Nomal response is within 1 minute - great service :D. If you had access to a computer you could use your mobile phone carriers webtext service therefore free and easier with a big keyboard. I dont understand what you mean about using GUI system off line to calculate the results. I think your only option is to calc manually or put a spreadsheet together to do it for you.
