suspended ceiling in the home

    Hi All,
I have an idea I'd like to to create in the guest bathroom. The idea is to create a new ceiling under the current one using plasterboard and to install recessed lights in it. At one end, the new ceiling will be flush with the walls but on the other end, I want to leave it short so I can install a light strip which won't be visible, but will give a nice light effect down the wall.
My question is, in what order should things be done and since I don't want to do this myself, in what order do I need to get the different trades in? Do I need a carpenter to create the frame that will support the plasterboard or will a plasterer do that? Do I get the sparks in before the plasterboard goes up or after?
    Any advice would be great.
    Cheers,
    M

    1. carpenter to create the frame that will support the plasterboard & light fittings
    2. the sparks in before the plasterboard goes up
    3. plasterer

maybe get the sparky and carpenter on-site for a quick chat before work starts;)

Make sure your lights have the appropriate IP rating for the various areas in the bathroom. A good electrician or lighting supplier can advise you on what you'll need.

Plasterer and sparks is all you need
    Plasterer first.
If you want to save cash try and prep
For the plasterer yourself im asuming
The ceiling is stipled or sum artex type
Of finish you want to cover up if so
Scrape down the finish as flat as possible
And mix up some pollybond fairly strong
And give it two or 3 coats over a day
And you're plasterer should walk in and skim it up with ease-most bathroom ceilings are no more than a full slab or two
So I'd recon you'd be lookin at spending
    100-120 on plastering!
If you still want it newly boarded just reslab
Over the existing ceiling! No need for a chippy unless you're plasterer can't slab:)
