Does anyone know how long it takes to process the application? I did it online and it says I am entiltled to one. Just after sending all the documentation off. I have heard that they sometimes come and visit your house - is that true?

Very difficult to say how long your application will take. There have been backlogs which they are promising to clear and speed things up. Hope you kept copies of all your documentation and best to send by registered post. Keep following up on it and ask for promised date. They don't visit your home.

Not sure if the gp only card is quicker than the medical card application process. I applied in August for a medical card. I got a letter in October for some o/s information (which they already had). They got the documents on 21/11/11 and my card was issued yesterday 14/2/12.
    Hope this helps.
