Who plays good music?

Lately I've been getting more and more into Community/ smaller radio stations. Where DJs actually chose the music they can put on.

Its always so refreshing to hear someone whos not afraid to try something new. Or to play someone I love but that you NEVER hear on radio. Neil Young, Bob Dyaln, and Leonard Cohen have all had new albums in the last few years, but none of these musical legends ever get a sniff of airplay.

So any suggestions for smaller radio shows from around the country that cut the bull**** and play good music?
    Cheers

Not from around the country but BBC6 plays great music, a real alternative to mainstream crap and chosen by presenters themselves (including Jarvis Cocker who has a show and interviewed Cohen recently), Phantom is pretty good too if a bit more "mainstream" indie.

I quite like the Battleaxe on 2FM on a Sunday evening (7pm - 9pm I think) - we would have it on at our scout meetings (I'm a venture leader) and it's quite good.

Really depends on your definition of "good music" -... For many, that would equate to what Phantom play (i.e.: indie/rock) while others love a mix of classic pop and some modern chart stuff and so prefer 4FM or Q102...

What kind of music do you like Mr. Jones?

Yeah I should have mentioned his show he has great taste but I was concentrating on Stations, I don't like Today FM apart from his show.

There's no-one who will play music you like all the time.

Take Paul McLoone for example, and the above playlist.

Some cracking songs on there, but often when I listen to him, he would play songs I just don't get/hate/which I find just noise etc.

Wow, Marquee Moon, never thought that would be played on the radio.

Hope he played all 10:49 of it.
