Hi, I only have a 512 memory and I notice that my Firefox is always using between 80-120Mb. I hear talk of Firefox trying to redesign so as to use less memory. In the meantime is there anyway I can reduce its usage or am I stuck with it.
    Thanks for reading.

I gave up on Firefox a few versions ago. I think it was v8 when i started having major issues with anything flash related, and the plugincontainer.exe would use a massive amount of memory and crash Firefox. Switched to Chrome, and it's like Firefox used to be.

Give Opera a try too, I also have 512MB RAM, currently its using 190MB for Opera which has 11 tabs open. It also includes a mail client and can do torrents.

I switched to Seamonkey a while back, and I find it much nicer. Maybe you should give K-Meleon a try, it's based on the Gecko engine too.

EDIT: Give Midori a try too. Don't forget to download 7-zip to extract them.

    you think 80 - 120mb is bad...firefox 7 used 2-3gb of memory because of it's horrible memory leak..lol

For half a gig RAM even Chrome will struggle, Opera is the best for low spec machines
