    A friend bought a 10 Astra last year. Lovely car with all chrome trims, 19 inch alloys etc.

    However, she never anticipated the cost of replacing the tyres!

    At the moment it has Continental contact 3 on which will probably last until the end of the year.

    They are 235/40 19. Huge tyres for that car.

    Anyone know a figure to be looking at per tyre? I was reckoning around 250 or so.

    Why ask here and wonder when you can check:

    camskill.co.uk
    eiretyres.com

    Why do you have to ask boards the price of a tyre? Waste of space thread.

    I don't think the database will mind actually ;)
    And in fairness it's in the motors forum so why the hell not ask?
    He's just looking for some advice...there's a lot of people here with chips on their shoulders and they'd want to cop fúck on.

    UNless the Astra is an OPC take them off. They are way too big.

    Your better off to check the prices of tyres in her area. Where is she living? Found eiretyres.com to be expensive

    That's fine for 15/16 inches. Anything 17 and up there will be big savings from buying online.

    90% correct.

    225/45/17 Hankooks to suit my car were €119 on Eiretyres.

    Bought them in my local for €230 for 2 fitted/Balanced

    Had to get four 225/45 17 for the car last week, same tyre was a tenner cheaper than eire tyre, saved me 40 quid to happy enough. I did shop around for the best deal.

    Meh - had an Astra Sports Tourer demo in March last year, rollin' on 20's :cool:

    Looked great, but a rather hard ride :pac:

    Saved €40 on the same tyres as opposed to online?

    Last week I had two hankook ventus V12 evo in the same size as yours delivered next day from camskill for €190 then a mobile fitter came to the house and put them on balanced etc for €30. Very happy.

    On saying that €190 + €30 = €220

    would not be worth it for me as my local is literally 20 yards from my house.:pac:

    I don't find Eiretyres all that great. I priced tyres for my own car recently and they were €190 (fitted and balanced) locally, €170 from Eiretyres and €135 from Camskill - all for the same tyre.

    Local = €760 for four
    Eiretyres = €680 + €60 = €740 (€20 savings)
    Camskill = €540 + €60 = €600 (€160 savings)

    +1 for camskill..I got my winter set for €807 delivered.
    Eiretyres were €930 for the same set.

    The rate I get is for regular customers as well.
    Just good prices

    The less common size tyres will always be more expensive than main stream sizes.

    I bought 2 x 225/40/r18 and 2 x 255/40/r18 Vredestein Ultrac Sessentas for my 3 Series from camskill, delivered and then fitted for around €600. There was a big difference in price between the 225s and 255s and less to choose from too, the 255s being a less common fitting.

    Personally in general I think 19"+ rims are too big especially for Irish roads, seems crazy to be fitted to an Astra.

    I also found my local to be cheaper than online for awkward tyre sizes.

    BF Goodrich G-Force Profiler 235/45/R18 x4 fitted and balanced for EUR520 (130 /corner). Cheapest I could find them online last month was EUR150 give or take a few cent + Fitting etc. EUR191.93 now on the same website :eek:

    I was coming from Continental SportContact 2's well above the thread limit and the difference is immense. I've had fantastic experiences with BF Goodrich tyres, had G-Force Profilers R17 on my EP1 Civic and All Terrains on fleet Hilux's. For the price I've yet to find a better tyre.
