Septic tank pump

    Hi

I had a new septic tank built 3 years ago. I had to have the tank emptyed today as it backed up to the bathroom.

The system i put in has a main tank from the bathroom with an over flow tank at the back of that with a pump in it that is supposed to pump the water up a hill to a raised soak-age bed.

I think the pump has a floating switch attached to it. Today both the main tank and the overflow tank were full of water.

Has anyone encountered this situation before? How long are these pumps supposed to last? How much do the cost to replace? Is it an electrician or plumber i need? I am located on the Galway roscommon border. Does anyone know of someone who would be able to replace the pump? I am assuming that it is the pump that is at fault.

    Thanks for any info.

It could be the float switch. You need an electrician.

I have spoken to an electrician. He said an electrician would not fix the pump. The electrician's only job was to attach the electric cable from the mains box to the electric cable that is coming from the pump itself.

Does anyone know where you would purchase this type of pump? it has a floating switch attached

Thanks for the recomendation stephen and thanks for the pm Poor Uncle Tom.
I had kingspan out to me today. The charged €160 for the callout and €200 for the pump totalling €360.

The service guy informed me that the pump has a life expectancy of five years. I had assumed when I had it built that it would last 40 years!

Sorry to raise a post from the dead but if you can remember them could you PM me a few recommendations for a similar job in the Connemara area...

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
