Is the number of employees a state secret?

32 first team players? Rangers barely have over half that number I'd have thought and I'm sure players like McGregor, Davis, Whittaker won't be just axed from the club.

That's what I was thinking, 32 first team players? There's no way they have 32 first team players.

They are including reserve team players in the first team players number as they havent put a figure on reserve players

    EDIT

They are not figures to be cut, thats just a headcount!

The figure is the total number of first-team players, not the number that will be cut: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17053571

It would include players on loan, Wikipedia lists 34 total: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rangers_fc#Current_squads

Looks like the race is open for the 2nd Champions League qualifier spot, administrators basically have ruled out Rangers being eligible next season.

Could have made that clearer sooner ;)

A little bit of humour from Grant Holt:
"So glad I didnt go to Rangers, what with them going into Administration. Much prefer playing football and Im rubbish at typing letters"

Current Rangers Staff (According to the BBC)

I thought it was obvious what I meant! :p

The admins are giving a press conference at 15.30 to give an update on everything so far AFAIK

From Alistar Lamont of BBC Scotland, the administrator had a meeting with a fan's group earlier and said it was unlikely the accounts would be signed off in time.

Players meeting with Administrators concluded at Murray Park . No players have been told they face the sack yet.

Yeah, I don't expect it will be anything too surprising...unless they are announcing Cousin has signed (Willie McKay reckons its going ahead). I can't see why he is still hanging around, you would almost think that claim of Birmingham offering him £20,000 p/w was just bullsh*t to feed the Rangers fans.

I thought the process of registering a player had to be completed before entering administration? Anyone know the exact wording of the rule/see it written in an article anywhere?

Unless Cousins is there to play ever game until the summer, bar fatigue/injury/suspension, it would be very hard to justify keeping him in the face of, what is most likely, massive lay offs.

A6.20 Except with the consent of the Board and that only where

    (i) the term of a Player’s contract of service with his Club has expired
and such contract has not been renewed or extended or such a
contract has terminated with the mutual consent in writing of the
Club and the Player concerned and, in either case, the
registration of such Player with the League in terms of Section D
of the Rules has been cancelled and a replacement Player is
sought to be registered to replace the Player whose contract
    has so expired or been terminated;

    or,

    (ii) where the Player
sought to be registered is a temporary replacement for a
goalkeeper who is unable by reason of injury or illness to play
and that only where written confirmation of such inability shall
have been obtained by the Club from a qualified medical
practitioner and submitted to the Board and the Board is
satisfied that the Club concerned has no other goalkeeper who
is registered and able to play,

a Club that has taken, suffered or has been subject to an Insolvency Event or Events shall not be
entitled or permitted to register any Player with the League and
the League shall not register such a Player in terms of Section
D of the Rules until such Insolvency Event or events shall no
    longer continue or subsist

There is probably too much logistics and not enough time to sack people and merge roles/responsibilities effectively 2 days before a matchday i thought.

David Cameron was asked about Rangers earlier as he's been up in Scotland dealing with the referendum question. His quote (taken from the Guardian blog) was:

    1.00pm:
On Rangers football club being forced into administration, the prime minister said: "I want that club to survive and to thrive … I hope that HMRC will work as closely as they can with the administrators to try and solve the problems, to try and resolve the issues, so that we can see Rangers going ahead."

I said it before but there's no way that Rangers will be allowed to fold. HMRC have got a vendetta against football clubs because it's a sector which has taken the piss with the taxman for too long. But ultimately HMRC are there to do what is in the interest of the Treasury and forcing a liquidation isn't in the interest of the Treasury. The Government will pressure HMRC to accept a CVA because they won't want a high profile football club to fold and because getting 20% of the debt is better than what they'll likely get in a liquidation.

Political pressure cannot change the rules of Scottish football. FIFA will punish the SFA in that event.

Politicians telling HMRC to take a reduced cut of taxes owed? Hmmm, I dont see that happening!

What rules? We're talking about the company coming out of Adminsitration. I don't see what football rules have to do with that. Could you clarify, please?

It's not a reduced cut, it's an increased cut. 20% is a lot higher than the 0%-2% that they'd get in a liquidation as an unsecured creditor.

FIFA dont like any interference from politicians in football matters. They also have a huge bee in their bonnet about politicians using situations like this for their own agenda.

It's not a football matter. It's a tax matter which makes it a Government matter.

Nothing a big envelop addressed to Blatter can't solve.
