Goddamn RTE Sports News on the radio just there:

"More bad news for Rangers..." (I quicky turn up the radio)
"...with the news that Steven Naismith and Steven Whittaker are set to object to the transfer to the NewCo"

Good job lads, keeping us up to date with news more than 24 hours old and getting me all excited in the process :pac:.

Are you surprised? Most people here couldn't give a fiddlers about the SPL (or lower division Scottish sides......) ;)

Good point. In other news Portsmouth's creditors have accepted a CVA offer of 2p in the pound, the difference with Rangers was that Rangers had Betty Windsor as their main creditor and it would take an awful lot more than that to interest her.

p.s. Chris McLaughlan just tweeted: "Crown office call for a criminal investigation into the sale of #Rangers"

They owe HMRC 1.9m out of a debt of 60m so it wasn't the main creditor.

There is a football creditors rule in England. Football debts are prioritized over tax liability

Investigation relates to sale in May 2011 apparently

Crown office call for a criminal investigation into the sale of #Rangers
Procurator Fiscal now to work with Strathclde Police to investigate acquisition and financial management of #Rangers
nvestigation into alleged criminality follows preliminary police examination of info passed by D&P in February. #Rangers

Only bad news for those involved, hopefully the truth will come out and those guilty get punished.

Hopefully, I have no interest in either Rangers or Celtic so impartial in this, sad to see a club go to the wall because of the actions of a few - could have been my own beloved Reds in 2010!

I do think, however that the newco shouldn't be allowed back into the SPL nor into the 1st division, if it's being set up as a new company/entity it should start from the bottom and work its way up - build its own history.

Aberdeen will oppose any re-admission of a Rangers newco to the SPL, the Aberdeen fans would not be happy otherwise

The vote will be a formality. Green is just wasting time

Good to hear that Aberdeen wont be rushed into making decisions about league restructuring for the sake of Sevco either

    EDIT

    http://blogs.channel4.com/alex-thomsons-view/strawpoll-rangers-fans-newco/2029

Thomson gets the views of Rangers fans
“I don’t see how they can consider this application, Newco is a new club and should be treated as such, simply owning Rangers assets for me doesn’t automatically make Newco rangers, would Tesco be trying to persuade us that they are Rangers had they bought the assets with the intention of raising them to the ground before building yet another super market? They would have no more right to do so than I would have the right to call myself Tiger Woods if I bought a second hand set of his golf clubs, similarly I wouldn’t expect to take his place on the US PGA tour just because I’ve taken possession of the clubs.”

Maybe a Rangers fans analogies can make Jelle understand what Sevco actually are. :pac:

Love that Tiger Woods analogy :D

Shame to see them go down but it was then only reasonable thing to do. Letting a new club stay in the SPL would have been a joke.

Is it the 3rd division they will go in to or could they have to start even lower? Are The Rangers going to keep Rangers FC history or just the kit/stadium/badge?

Sorry for the questions, I haven't been keeping up with it recently.

Just the kit/stadium/badge. You cant claim the history of another club just because they are going out of business!

More indications today that Newco is under financial pressure - may sell on again.

    No surprises there!

Distinct possibility that Green will sell the club before he even reveals where the money is coming from.

I think he's pulled a stroke a la Whyte. I think he was going to generate working capital from selling players but didnt realise that players could and would walk away for free. Some very desperate comments coming from him and McCoist.

That Tiger Woods analogy is great. :D

6 confirmed "NO" votes now according to the BBC

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18577192

    St Johnstone,
    Aberdeen,
    Inverness,
    Hearts,
    Dundee United,
    Hibernian.

Surely that puts away the notion of Div1 for Sevco FC ... Was that idea not subject to acceptance back to the SPL and then an immediate relegation as a punishment?
New club now forced to take the route of any other new club an apply for admission to the bottom tier surely?

Is there any team that is willing to vote Yes?

Seems that the SPL rules have few holes in them!
    Russell ‏@STVGrant

Rule H5 states relegation places amended accordingly and therefore an 11-team SPL. Surely anything will be done to avoid that.
    Grant Russell ‏@STVGrant

Big hole in SPL rules is that H5 doesn't provide for this happening in close season. What season are we in? None. 2012/13 starts on Aug
    Grant Russell ‏@STVGrant

If you take Rule H5 at face value, we either have Dunfermline or an 11 team league. Unless SPL uses "Rangers rule" to promote another club.
    Grant Russell ‏@STVGrant

And another thing... RT @craigkillie1989: @STVGrant 11 team SPL means no SFL vacancy for Sevco...

I wonder what else the SFA/SPL/SFL have cut corners on!
Is there any team that is willing to vote Yes?

    D&P will surely vote yes?!

    oh
Aberdeen Football Club has stated that the acceptance or otherwise of a 'NewCo' Rangers into the SPL is only one of a number of issues facing clubs in Scotland over the forthcoming period.

Pittodrie Chairman Stewart Milne commented, "As we indicated two weeks ago there are many matters that have to be resolved regarding Rangers. Traditionally we have preferred not to make public our voting intentions, but in light of the level of interest and the fact other clubs have chosen to show their hand, on this occasion I can confirm it is our intention to oppose readmission to the SPL for any Rangers NewCo. If readmission were to be refused, we believe the appropriate course of action would be for Rangers NewCo to apply for membership to the SFA and to submit an application for admission to the SFL.

"One of our major objectives has to be to work with everyone concerned to ensure that the commercial challenges that this case has and will continue to cause can be mitigated as far as they possibly can so that sporting integrity can be the overriding factor.

"Reorganisation of the game is a priority and is something we have been actively involved in for a long time, but it is not something that should be rushed through just to deal specifically with one club.

"As we have indicated there are a number of other areas that we feel need to be addressed openly in the coming period if Scottish football fans are to feel that their views have been properly taken into account."

Defo no Gers SPL next season. Will they be in position to even apply for SFL? Increasingly likely year out minimum. Loads more to come out.

Tweet from Scunthorp defender Paul Reid:

"No wonder Rangers are in trouble. They paid £1 million for me and Dick Advocaat called me 'Peter' for the whole time he was manager!!"

He was 18 when he signed for Rangers and played a grand total of 0 mins for the club before being sold for £100,000 to Northampton Town 3 years later.

£1 million was only small change back then though. Wonder what they'd do for some of that small change now.

They could organise some concerts for the year in Ibroke and all the fans could support Partick Thistle to acclimatize to what they will be watching for years to come :pac:

Partick Thistle fans are going to boycott games though if the zombies go to Div 1.

Rangers are more likely to avoid liquidation than Sevco playing Div1 next season.

I'm confused...how come Celtic haven't come out and said whether they'd vote Yes or No to the NewCo coming into the SPL?
