Hey people, I know a thread you probably get every other day but I have searched around and can't fund much in the way of answers :(.

I purchased a Galaxy Ace from O2 and the Sim is locked to that, but I want to use my Meteor card in the phone as its just generally easier for me, but unfortunatly O2 won't help out. I am just wondering if anyone can explain to me how to do it. The problem is I need the full guide, from rooting to the apps needed etc. Sorry to be a pain but if anyone can help either here or PM it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much :)

If I understand correctly you need the unlock code for the phone. o2 would request that you have spent €130 on the network to avail of this code, so I'm guessing that's why they won't budge. Outside of that, there are places around every city where phones can be unlocked from as little as €20. I got an Xperia x10 unlocked for €35. They get it done in 10 minutes and you're good to go on any network at that stage. If I've misinterpreted what you need, let me know. I don't really know what you mean by the "full guide", but once the phone is unlocked, you just put the SIM into the phone, it'll pick up coverage, you should receive internet and mms settings shortly after and all should be well. That's certainly what happened for me anyway. Best of luck!

Thanks very much. Was hoping their was a way I could do it from home but I guess your way is the best way to do it :D. Thanks again.

Well I think there are sites that specialise in getting the unlock codes for a fee, and it may even be cheaper than going into town and doing it (in fact, it probably is). But that's how I did it. Feel free to have a google, I know these sites operate, just make sure you find a trustworthy one. All the best! :D

I got an o2 one unlocked from CPW.
179 and traded in an old galaxy s1 that kept freezing for 120.
    Cost me 59€:-)

Think there is a place in Tallaght shopping centre which does that kind of thing. Hope that helps.

I bought a Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 2 days ago from vodafone, after a unsuccessfully code request via net found this tutorial which worked for me FREE.

The Network unlocking code is inside the file in your phone.

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335548&page=8

Followed this tutorial I got my eight digit network unlocking code.
The 1st method worked for me. With the second I got only empty img file.
