Villa: Given, Hutton, Cuellar, Dunne, Collins, Petrov, Gardner, Heskey, Albrighton, Keane, Bent.

Subs: Guzan, Ireland, Warnock, Bannan, Baker, Weimann, N’Zogbia.

Man City: Hart, Kompany, Lescott, Zabaleta, Kolarov, De Jong, Barry, Milner, Silva, Johnson, Aguero

Subs: Pantilimon, Richards, Clichy, Savic, Nasri, Pizarro, Dzeko.

Potential pasting for Villa I fear.

    Boring draw.

    Come on Villa!

    0-2

Fairly defensive midfield from City. Must win game for us. 1-0 City.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,518 ✭✭✭matrim

Culleur at LB. Heskey probably at LM

Expect an easy win for City.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Keane always scores against City, lump on him at 4/1.

    Easy win for City.

I expect a city win but if Villa can get anything from this game it would epic!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

That Villa defence depresses me no end. Heskey at left midfield......

It's gonna be a long game I fear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,603 ✭✭✭Scuba Ste

I expect this to be anything but easy. We haven't made a game look easy in a while, particularly away from home. Expect finger nails to be bitten off with ten minutes to go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Too many ex-City players in that Villa squad (plus Keane) for us not to get done.

N’Zogbia finally showed a bit of form in recent weeks but is dropped

Keane has been outstanding since going to Villa great for Ireland hope he can keep it up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,254 ✭✭✭Esse85

I'd take seeing Villa getting thumped if it meant a sniper in the crowd taking out McLeish.

I think City will be all over Villa and win 3-0

WTF is he doing starting Heskey, what a troll.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Unless Ireland still has that injury which didn't allow him to 'close down' according to McLeish, another poor decision to leave him on the bench.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,812 ✭✭✭✭JPA

I can see that nippy front three of City running the Villa defence ragged.
Dzeko would have easier to handle.

Collins being back is actually bad news but at least Warnock is out. Probably balances out.

Cuellar at LB will be interesting. Glad Warnock isnt playing but we really dont have anyone else to replace him it seems. I dunno wether Enda is injured though so maybe im wrong and McLeish just doesnt see him as up to Prem level atleast not yet.

Heskey starting is also not a positive for me but hopefully he can surprise me cos tbh getting anything from this game would be a surprise. Hoping for good games from Gardner & Albrighton as I've a high opinion of those two but this wont be an wasy game for them.

No expectations going in though so unless we are hammered or simply dont seem bothered I dont think this match will change much unless shock horror Villa win.... come on boys surprise me and make my staying up for this worthwhile

If Villa perform as badly as they did against United here a few months a go they'll be beaten comfortably. From what I've seen of Villa recently though they seem to have improved and City have found it tough away from home recently.

Still can't see past a City win, hopefully I'm wrong.

Enda Stephens is probably about 4th choice at the moment. He's just transferred from the LOI and it would be a massive step up to the PL. He might start breaking into the team next year but I don't expect to see him this year (unless as a sub).

The pecking order is probably Warnock -> Clark / Culluer -> Lichaj -> Baker / Stephens

I'd like to see Lichaj given a chance at LB when he's fully fit again. He's a decent player who while right footed can play at LB. He had a good spell at leeds and with the exception of the city game last year did ok at RB

enda's not playing because he's just played for almost a full year, needs a break, and needs to build fitness up to premiership levels

doubt we'll see any of him til the tail end tbh

Keane has 8 goals against us, while Dunne has 7.

    White shorts! \o/

Pity it's with the navy shirt

Thats a nice enough jersey. I like it.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

kinda thought that was the story with Enda though wasnt 100% sure as I thought our LB situation might see more talk of him at the least.

    cmon Villa, dont depress me

both wearing white shorts????? and the jerseys at a distance very hard to distinguish between the teams???????

Interesting to hear the City fans singing about Munich already. Same fans that held up a banner bearing Frank Swift's name on it in 2008.

Jaysus will one of yous change your kit, this is too difficult for hungover eyes.

Villa already playing like the away side here, very deep altogether, for instance Bent just caught offside while claiming to be in his own half.

    Not interesting in the slightest

It is rather difficult to distinguish between the two teams when it gets crowded around the ball..

Villa fans why is Heskey starting over Ireland or N'zog?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,116 ✭✭✭Professional Griefer

Because Alex McLeish is our manager

Because both have dared to criticise McLeish's style recently.

Watch for Heskey to score and McL to declare himself a tactical genius:o

Villa's defence with as bad a line as Whitney Houston.

Villa are all over the shop. City turning the screw. Or is it the other way around? Hard to tell with the ****ing kits.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Surely a goal is coming, Villa are way too deep.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,234 ✭✭✭Patser

Exactly where is Heskey meant to be playing, looks like RB at times!

    Villa

Jaysus, watching Hutton, I'd take Heskey at RB now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,239 ✭✭✭KittyeeTrix

City just can't seem to find the goal!
