Are there any cheap weekend European breaks going anywhere?

Hoping to surprise the missus with a few days away in europe with perhaps Spain, France, Italy the first places that spring to mind although I'm openminded about the destination.

Is it best just to look at cheap flights and go from there or would travel agents be the best bet at this time of the year for booking a package type thing with hotels etc inclusive?

if anyone has any links or can suggest an agency or online site that might be of help I'd appreciate it.

    Cheers

Are you planning to travel in the next few days?

If so, bear in mind that most of Europe is under a blanket of snow at the moment and travel restrictions are a possibility. A package booked with a travel agent will ensure that you are not left stranded due to any disrutions.

Otherwise Spain might be a good option.

Or how about this. Not bad for €249.

    EDIT:

Just realised that link I gave isn't working. It was for an apartment in Morocco I found on http://www.lastminute.ie/?&source=aff-td1281716&tduid=aa423dd2e8f68a72390e77791fa40012

Would you be interested in going to Russia? Some good deals on for there

Just back from yet another trip to Nice. Flights and accommodation less than €200 per person incl all taxes, although I wouldn't recommend the hotel, you could spend a little more for very comfortable accommodation.

Russia, no because I just want to go for 2 nights as it's all I can afford at the moment.

I'd love to go to Barcelona, Madrid, Milan, Turin perhaps for a couple of nights
in March but I'm definitely open to suggestions.

What are the best sites to look on?

Last minute.ie - I know they have a citybreaks tab.

Sometimes I see deals on groupon / citydeals etc but I dunno are they normally for cheap hotels etc.

I've never dealt with a travel company but I'm based in Dublin so if anyone has a reccomendation I'd be glad to check them out.

Budget for the trip package is about 400-500 euro if that helps.

    hey Panama,

We're just back from 3 nights in Budapest. It was cold but a lovely city to spend time in, will definately be going back at some stage.

We stayed in the 5 star Le Meridian which is a central location right beside a metro station where the 3 lines meet which allows for easy travel around the city.

Flew with Aer Lingus and the flight and hotel cost just over €500 for two for the 3 nights

    Worth a look.

Getting to Tallinn for three nights at end of march, flights and accommodation coming in appx 290 for two. Total.
Delighted with the price to be honest.

Ryanair + eastern europe + a little research on accomodation = Dirt cheap break. The key is been flexible with your travel dates.
