Viewing RTE 2 HD

    Hi,

So I just recently got an indoor aerial, and connected it with my DVB-T box (bought around 6 months ago) and I can see all channels perfectly, except RTE 2, since it's in HD. Maybe there is another way to view the SD version? Or maybe I thought you could record some shows, and then just view them on my PC, but it dosent appear to let me record anything.

Is there any way I can see RTE 2?

    Thanks

Sadly if your box isn't compatible there is nothing to do but replace it.

If you bought it in the Republic, even 6 months ago, then bring it back and get a refund. If you bought it in the North and have proof of purchase (credit card bill etc) then try bring it back. RTE2 is HD only.

Sorry to jump here but if RTE 2 is in HD, do tv's that support Saorview display RTE 2 HD without problems? For example, in the UK, you need a tv with builtin FreeviewHD/FreeSat to get HD content.

Does a supported saorview tv with freeview support HD fine or am I missing something?

UK use DVb-T2 (totally different tuner) for HD Channels and DVB-T for SD channels. They also use MPEG4 as the video codec for HD, but MPEG2 for SD. DVB-T2 decodes DVB-T. MPEG4 profile chips decode MPEG2.

Saorview use DVB-T for both SD and HD, both MPEG4 video codecs, one obviously a higher level. L3 is SD. L4 and above is HD.

No it does not necessarily follow. It needs to be Freeview HD compatable. Thus if you want freeview HD and Saorview (both via aerial) a freeview HD TV is more compatable than a Saorview only TV

    Hi

The mother in law has RTE 2 HD on the main menu 'All Channels' where my normal rte 2 is....I was under the impression you could only have it in 'Other Channels' (Where i have it)

Is there anyon else who has this channel in 'All Channels' & if so do you know how to get there!

    Cheers

This thread is about terrestrial Saorview RTE 2 HD.

There is a thread here on RTE 2 HD via Sky:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056278906

In summary it should be on Sky channel 102 or 294 depending on the system. No need to use other channels.
