A friend has been offered part time work and is trying to work out how much he will be continued to be paid in terms of JSB. Terms of Job not yet ironed out.

But he may work (a) 3 Days Mon, Tues & Wed or (b) 3 days Sun, Mon, Tues or 4 days Sun, Mon, Tues & Wed.

He currently gets €188 per week. What he is trying to work out is how much will his JSB be under scenarios (a) (b) & (c) :

    Today?

    w.e.f. from July 2012 ? and

    w.e.f. from Jan 2013 ?

I get confused reading welfare.ie :o Top marks to anyone ho can some up with the (6) answers:)

Scenario a he will receive half of his €188. scenario b he will receive 2/3rds of €188. Scenario c he will receive half of €188. Sunday is not counted as days worked until 2013.

My understanding of 2012 is and I do stand to be corrected... he will get 2/5ths of €188 scenario a and for scenario b he will be get 3/5ths of €188 and for scenario c2/5ths of €188

In 2013...if still eligible for jsb and in view of the fact Sunday will be counted as a working day and jsb will be on a five day week calculation rather than a 6 day week calculation from 2012 the following is my understanding of the new rules scenario a 2/5ths of whatever the personal rate will be in 2013. scenario b 2/5ths of personal rate and scenario c nothing as he will be working more than 3 days.

Exhausted after doing that and still have the ireland v france game to contend with.

    I love a challenge:)

    Thanks...enjoy the game.

One further question if you don't mind.

What is being offered is a three day week and that 3 day week will include every second Sunday.

So can he claim 1/2 of €188 one week and 2/3rds of €188 every second week?

Or does the part time terms of the employment have to be static?

No they do not have to be static. At the minute he should get 1/2 for one week and 2/3rds for second week.

2013 may work out differently as sunday will be considered a working day and jsb works wed-tue so it would depend on the days from wed-tue he works as to whether he will get payment or not. Casual jsb is a nightmare to explain.

Oh no game may be called off.

Thanks. Does the employer still operate the "Xs & Os" sheet ?

Does the employee have to notify SW every week of what days and how many days he has worked each week?

    game is off:(

employer does not operate xs and os.... claimant needs to go to sw office and let them know he is going to be working casually. He will get form from sw for employer to fill in up14b and will be given dockets to fill out every week and drop in sw office.... its self certifying now but employer will get form every so often to fill in to verify days that employee has worked. Payment for casual workers is by cheque and no need to sign on. Only drawback is that claimants claim will be payment suspended until form from employer is returned.

I know game off... but in the interest of player safety it is the best option... was not expecting it to go ahead. Sure snow in Rome today for other game. And ground in France as hard as concrete so would have been very dangerous for player......emmm what to watch now lol.
