Today I went into Boots (Stephens green) to buy a pack of Solpadine Max, which I take for occasional migraines & period pain.
Well, the pharmacist refused to sell them to me!!! Are there any chemists in Dublin (preferably near city center) where I could purchase these painkillers without difficulty? I hope this is the right forum to ask. Thanks! :)

Avoid Boots, I'm not sure why they stock codeine based pain killers, because they won't sell them!

Firstly, every pharmacy & pharmacist is legally & ethically obliged to satisfy themselves that any medicine you buy is the right one for you.
This obligation is not only reinforced but also actively policed * in the case of Solpadeine. If the pharmacist refused to sell them, then you were unconvincing in your attempt to persuade the pharmacist that it was the right thing for you.

Secondly, there is no such product as "Solpadeine Max" legally available on the market in the Republic of Ireland. "Solpadeine Max" is available only in the neighbouring jurisdiction.

    * In other words, there are people whose job it is to try to catch pharmacists out in not adhering to Codeine guidelines. Naturally, they check adherance to other laws, regulations and guidelines too, but they usually start the inspection by attempting to buy Solpadeine without a good reason.

Thanks. Do you know of any chemists that are less stringent?

all pharmacies are bound by the same guidelines.
