Turbo Conversion on a 1.8 Corrado

    Lads,

I'm looking into a turbo conversion on a 1.8 16v Corrado. From what it seems, the previous owner had looked into it, but i guess he didn't have the balls to follow it up!

Is there a whole lot of work involved? Where could I get the job priced up?

The stingy and wierd side of me has also been considering dropping a 1.9TDi into it. I've been told with a good remap, I could see 180bhp and loads of torque?

It would only be possible to get a safe 180ish hp from just a remap if you got the right tdi engine, a 150hp(rare) or maybe a 130hp.

As for the turbo conversion, it would be much easier and cheaper to fit a complete 1.8 20v turbo engine then it would be to properly turbo charge your 16v unit.

As Nissan doctor said the 1.8T 20v conversion is the only way to go,but it is such a popular conversion these days you could probably buy one already completed and sell your own.

Don't put a dirty diesel in a corrado thats just wrong.

Wasn't there a lad on Vagdrivers that turbo'd a 16v Mk2 GTI, iirc that car went like stink and it wasn't a massive job

At this stage nearly every Corrado is 1.8T, be nice to do something different

There was indeed Gary, same guy that Turbo'd an R32 engine in a farmers car :D

I suppose the size of the task depends on your experience,it's all relative.
