Hi all, need some help with my speakers on my PC.
They are fours individual speakers plugged into a sub woofer, which plugs into the pc, thing is about 3 weeks ago they started giving trouble, when nothing is playing it sounds as if they randomly plug in and out, you that sound when you plug speakers in?, and during a movie or song the sound randomly goes really high.

Now about a month ago i was trying to get my rear two speaker working because only the front two were playing sound but i didnt succeed, maybe I clicked a setting but I dont think so...

Ive tried plugging everything out and back in...

System is windows 7 ultimate 64 bit if that helps

    Thanks

Have you also got the front and rear cables from the subwoofer plugged into the PC. Apologies if you have but your original post seems to imply you only have one lead going from the sub to the the PC

Hmm, that doesn't sound right to me. My system used to have three separate ports from the soundcard, black for the subwoofer, green for the front and pink for the rear.

actually i think iv just blown a fuse in the sub woofer, i touched the two output (green and black) where the exit the sub woofer and the sound went, tried plugging it in and out but i think its deff a blown fuse??? maybe that was it all alone???

Scrap that, checked the fuse, its fine, plugged everything in and out, sound back but the problem is back worse than ever, volume gone form low to high, or if no sound is playing the speakers keep sounds like their plugging in and out

What's the make and model of the speakers and what soundcard is installed on in the PC?

speakers and sub woofer are "altec lansing", not sure what soundcard is, checked device manager, says top of sound list - ATI high definition audio device, then high definition audio device, then WsAudio_DeviceS(1) through to S(5).... does that tell you anything mordeith?

Also if I go to DirectX diagnostic tool their are 7 sound tabs across the top, sound1 to sound7,
With sound 2 tab reading -
The file WsAudio_DeviceS(4).sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer

    Sound 3 tab reading -
The file WsAudio_DeviceS(3).sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.

    Sound 4 tab reading -
The file WsAudio_DeviceS(2).sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.

    Sound 5 tab reading -
The file WsAudio_DeviceS(5).sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.

    that any help?

Not sure of that's the main soundcard driver. Right click on the speaker icon in the system tray and select properties. What's listed as the device for playback?
    Do headphones work okay?
