    Hey all,

Looking for a present to mark a significant birthday for an elderly lady coming up soon (not that elderly she might argue! :D). Thought I'd see what the forum has to say on a watch as an idea.

She would have pretty much zero brand consciousness in terms of watches and would be appalled at spending a lot of money so think what I'm looking for is a quality classic looking ladies watch at a price somewhere around €200 and possibly engraved. Any thoughts?

    Doc.

Now I don't know your mother or her taste, so I'm probably miles off the mark.

Here's something that I would define as everyday practical elegance (which my mother would like)

    4-1bm.JPG

A radio controlled watch (so no worries at all with setting the time), made from titanium (so very light on the wrist) yet with touches of gold for that bit of sparkle. And with sapphire glass and 5ATM water resistance it should be wearable every day

Any jeweller will do an engraving.

Garde Ruhla do quite a few different models that are quite conservatively styled and might appeal to the older taste.
(They also make Junkers and Zeppelin watches and on those their quality is very good, haven't seen an actual Garde watch in the flesh yet)

Glad to hear you don't know my mother Peasant...:D

Yeah, just looking for peoples thoughts on what they would buy. Always a little tricky to judge someone else's tastes but I'm working off the basic idea that something classic and timeless will work.
