We have just discovered our childrens allowance has not been paid this month and last. Before we start to follow them up about it anyone have any ideas why it would be stopped or ever had this happen to them. We are all irish.

I was about to say the same,i remember reading that they sent out forms to be filled in within 42days and if they was not returned then money was suspended.

Hi. Did any of your children reach the age of 16 then you have to reapply for the allowance to continue while they are still at school, until the are 18.There is a special form that you wold have received in the month prior to it ceasing.

If you have moved house since the birth of your last child and haven't changed your address with The Department, then it's possible they sent a letter to your last known address which you didn't receive. That happened to me a few years ago - you have to call them and straighten it out and follow up by sending proof of address etc. You might be waiting a few months, but you will get the missed payments all at once when it is reinstated.

Give them a ring and they will tell you the reason. If they did send out a form, they will advise you on what documents (Birth certs, pps numbers, utility bills for the last three months and confirmation letter of attendance from the school) you need to send back with a covering letter asking for re-instatement of CB. Include the children's pps numbers on the covering letter as well as your own.
Send all correspondence by registered post, then you can track the letter.
