Just noticed more and more the amount of poor drivers on our roads. Typically middle aged men in german cars sitting in the overtaking lane and flashing people to get out of the way. Is it just me or do yee all see this too. And the speed they do be doing....very dangerous

If they're sitting in the overtaking lane then they should be getting flashed should they not? I mean to me sitting in the overtaking lane means they aren't overtaking and are holding up traffic behind.

Coming out of Sligo on the N4 y/day evening...Guy in a red van in the overtaking lane on a dual carriage way...crawling....Counted 5 drivers that undertake in the inside lane to get by him....and he still didn't move in after being beeped accourdingly.

Sitting in the overtaking land at upwards of 20-40kmh above the limit. So while i pull out to overtake someone there is some fool burying up behind me flashing etc. Sorry for not breaking speed limits like.

Maybe you are pulling out to the overtaking lane just in front of someone else who is already on this lane overtaking you.
    That's why they flash.

Excellent! Since we are getting the tar brush I`m guessing your somebody who sits at 90 in the overtaking lane "protecting" us from the killers that are speeding.
If I am overtaking someone at the speed limit and some fool comes booting up doing well above the limit and starts flashing me.....i just slow down to piss him off. they are fools. Then when the attempted undertake takes place on his part i normally gun it. After that i find he is happy to sit behind at a sensible speed from then on. I dont get it. Its normally drivers of german cars....big mercs and audis etc. Not always but mostly.

Check your mirrors before you pull out. If someone is gaining on you in the overtaking lane and your pulling out would block them then let them pass.

I do check and by the time i slowly and safely overtake the car in front the gob****e in tge car behind had superglued himself to my bumper. I would say these drivers are very hazardous on the roads indeed

Now we all know what kind of driver you are.
I see a bit of relation between of description of your driving, and your thread title.

Pretty much, when there's people sitting in the overtaking lane for no good reason anyhow. ;)

I think OP could be in the right on this one.

If we put speed aside because that doesn't matter and say that he is overtaking someone and making good progression. If someone comes up behind him flashing I think they are just being asses. They should back off and wait for him to finish overtaking.

I don't think I agree with braking and slowing down just to annoy the guy behind though :D

And you want lower taxes on fuel? I'd pay €3/litre if I was assured that that would price you off the road.;)
